Soludo Wins Anambra Governorship Election

T The incumbent Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has been re-elected as Governor of Anambra State following the conclusion of the governorship election held on Saturday, November 8.

Soludo, who contested under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), recorded a landslide victory, winning across all 21 local government areas (LGAs) of the state.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), a total of 584,054 votes were cast during the election. Soludo polled 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes. Other parties trailed behind, with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) securing 8,208 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had 1,401 votes.

The results were announced by the State Collation Officer, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, at the INEC headquarters in Awka on Sunday.

Soludo’s victory reaffirms APGA’s dominance in Anambra politics and positions him for another four-year term to continue his administration’s developmental strides in the state.
