Trial of Nigerian Punter Accused of Killing Social Media Influencer Begins Thursday

T The trial of Nigerian punter, Benjamin Best, popularly known as Killaboi, accused of killing social media influencer Augusta Onuwabhagbe, is set to commence on Thursday, the 15th, at the Lagos State High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square.

The development was confirmed by Cordelia Okonye, the mother of the deceased, in a post shared on her Instagram Stories. She disclosed that the case would be heard at the High Court and urged members of the public to attend the proceedings.

Augusta Onuwabhagbe was allegedly killed on July 13, 2023, at Killaboi’s residence located at No. 24a Abiola Apooyi Street, Oral Estate, Ajah, Lagos. The deceased was a 21-year-old first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan.

Following the incident, Killaboi reportedly fled Nigeria and was subsequently declared wanted by law enforcement authorities. He was arrested in Qatar in February 2025 and extradited to Nigeria in April 2025 to face trial.

The case has continued to attract public attention due to the circumstances surrounding the killing and the international manhunt that followed.
