Army Chief Hosts Christmas Luncheon for Frontline Troops

T The Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, hosted a special Christmas luncheon for troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Maiduguri, Borno State, in recognition of their dedication and sacrifices in the fight against insurgency.

Shaibu, who was represented at the event by Godwin Mutkut, extended festive greetings to the troops and commended their resilience and professionalism in protecting lives and restoring stability across the North-East.

He described Christmas as a season of love, hope, and renewal, noting that while many Nigerians celebrate with their families, soldiers remain on the frontline, standing as the nation’s shield.

The Army Chief praised the commitment of personnel under Operation Hadin Kai, stating that their sustained efforts have contributed significantly to improved security in Borno State and surrounding areas. He also reassured the troops of continued attention to their welfare and operational needs.

Speaking at the event, Theatre Commander Abdulsalam Abubakar expressed appreciation for the gesture, linking recent operational gains to the leadership’s support. He disclosed that 438 terrorists had been neutralised in the past seven months.

The luncheon, held at Maimalari Cantonment, boosted troop morale as forces prepare for intensified dry-season operations.
