Troops Neutralise Terrorists in Borno

T Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have sustained intensive offensive operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists across Borno State, resulting in the neutralisation of insurgents, destruction of enclaves and the surrender of several fighters.

According to the military, sustained pressure under Operation DESERT SANITY V along the Azir–Wajiroko axis on January 10, 2026, forced 11 terrorists to surrender with their AK-47 rifles and assorted ammunition.

In a statement on Sunday, the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, said troops also carried out extensive clearance operations a day earlier in the Bulaagalda cluster.

“On 9 January 2026, troops conducted extensive clearance operations in the Bulaagalda cluster, destroying several active terrorist enclaves and camps at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile, including the notorious Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed camps,” he said.

Lt. Col. Uba added that the operations led to the dismantling of terrorists’ life-support structures, degradation of their logistics and the recovery of items including terrorist flags, weapons and magazines.

He noted that similar offensive operations in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas forced terrorists to flee, resulting in the destruction of additional logistics facilities and the recovery of weapons, ammunition and a general-purpose machine gun.

“In another operation based on credible intelligence, troops engaged JAS/ISWAP elements between Sojiri and Kayamla villages, neutralising eight terrorists and recovering AK-47 rifles,” the army spokesman said.

The military also disclosed that two suspected terrorist logistics collaborators were arrested at Gubio Local Government Area for allegedly supplying logistics to insurgents.

Lt. Col. Uba reaffirmed the commitment of the troops to sustaining offensive pressure against terrorist groups.

“Troops remain resolute in sustaining offensive pressure, dismantling terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace and security across the North East region,” he said.
