Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Demands Justice for Late Ochanya Ogbanje

S Seven years after the tragic death of Ochanya Ogbanje, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) has called for renewed action to ensure justice is served in the case that once sparked national outrage.

Expressing concern over reports that the alleged perpetrators have been discharged and acquitted, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan urged the family of the late teenager to formally petition her office for legislative intervention.

“The family of late Ochanya Ogbanje should write a petition to me,” she stated on her official Instagram page, adding her contact details:

Reaffirming her commitment to justice and child protection, the lawmaker wrote, “For our children, I stand for Justice for Ochanya.” She also appreciated social media advocate @miss_natural1 for bringing recent developments in the case to her attention through online videos.

The Ochanya Ogbanje case, which came to light in 2017, involved allegations of prolonged sexual abuse that resulted in the 13-year-old’s death. The incident ignited widespread condemnation and intensified calls for stronger child protection and justice reforms across Nigeria.
